Afteroffice Studio ID
ENTRY 040 One person

One person. That isn't a shortcoming I'm hiding.

My name is Ihsan Nugraha. By day I work as both a product manager and an engineer, and Afteroffice Studio is my independent practice outside that — the name comes from when most of this work actually happens.

I don't have a team, and I don't pretend to. You talk directly to the person who thinks the product through and builds it. No account manager in the middle, no request that quietly changes meaning as it passes through three people, and decisions that can be made inside a single conversation.

What makes this possible is working with AI. I direct, decide, and stay accountable; AI executes the parts that used to take days. It isn't magic, and it's no substitute for product judgement — a model doesn't know who your users are, doesn't know what's safe to sacrifice, and won't carry the consequences of getting it wrong. That part stays human work.

I also handle the parts nobody sees: servers, deployment, backups, monitoring. Not because I enjoy operations, but because a product that can't be run and recovered isn't a product — it's a demo that got lucky.

ENTRY 041

How I work

Problem first, features later

The first conversation won't be about technology. I want to know which decision is stuck and who's paying for the current state of things.

A small version that genuinely runs

One finished, usable path beats ten half-built features that only hold up in a demo.

Limits stated up front

If there's something I can't do well, you'll hear it before we start. That's far cheaper for both of us.

The code and docs become yours

Source-code ownership is agreed at the start. I also write enough documentation for your IT team to carry it on without me.

ENTRY 042

Start with the problem, not a specification

You don't need a requirements document. One problem, one process still done by hand, or one idea that slides keep failing to explain — that's enough to begin.
